Found in the yard. Notice the whiskers. A rare catbird?

About 25 years ago, a bird collector gave me one; I was a child then. Unfortunately he didn't give me the name of the bird or what it ate. After I brought it home, I scoured the library with little luck. Two weeks later it died because I couldn't get it to eat regular canary / parakeet / millet seeds.
A month after it's death I discovered the Pekin Robin and that's the closest I've come. It doesn't say the robin has whiskers though. If you do ever find out, please let me know. I'm still looking...
